Revision of the National Environment Strategy

About the project

This project will revise Bhutan's National Environment Strategy (NES). Originally produced in 1998 under the name “The Middle Path”, for approximately 16 years this document provided general guidance on the environment and sustainable development pathways.

However, with a new and evolving governance system, new environmental challenges such as climate change, and other emerging threats to environments sustainability, the UNDP supports the National Environment Commission in revising the NES to incorporate these new development challenges. The revised National Environment Strategy will be completed by 2015.
