The Global Environment Facility’s Small Grants Programme (GEF-SGP), implemented by UNDP provides financial and technical support to Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and academic and research institutions to meet the overall objective of “Global environmental benefits secured through community-based initiatives and actions”. The GEF-UNDP Small Grants Programme implements micro-projects with administrative and technical support from the Royal Government of Bhutan.
GEF-UNDP SGP Bhutan would like to invite project proposals from CSOs (including Community-Based Organizations and grassroots institutions/communities) and academic and research institutions for Lower Manas Basin Landscape in Zhemgang: Bardo, Ngangla, Phangkhar, Goshing and Bjoka Gewogs, in the below mentioned priority strategic initiatives that would contribute to “creation of global environmental benefits and the safeguarding of the global environment through community and local solutions that complement and add value to national and global level action”:
- Community Landscape Conservation
- Climate Smart Innovative Agro-ecology
- Low-Carbon Energy Access Co-benefits
- CSO-Government Policy and Planning Dialogue Platforms
- Promoting Social Inclusion and
- Global reach for citizen practice-based knowledge programme
Refer the GEF-UNDP SGP Country Programme Strategy for Operational Phase 6, http://www.bt.undp.org/content/dam/bhutan/new-sgp/ProjectProposal.pdf for information on Lower Manas Basin Landscape. The proponents are requested to focus on biodiversity conservation and sustainable land management.
The maximum grant size is US$ 50,000 per project and preference will be given to proposals that are innovative and submitted by rural communities and vulnerable groups. Standard project proposal template and guidelines are available at UNDP Bhutan Website. Duly completed project proposals (digital copy) should be submitted to the National Coordinator, SGP, UNDP Country Office, Bhutan. Proponents are encouraged to explore co-financing and integrate in-kind contribution for the proposed projects.

The last date for the submission of proposals is 20 November 2018. Proponents are encouraged to submit the proposals in advance to permit sufficient time for review.
