Bhutan to Implement Low Emission Urban Transport System

The two days National Stakeholder Consultation workshop on Bhutan Sustainable Low – emission Urban Transport System concluded today. The consultation was jointly organized by the Gross National Happiness Commission, Ministry of Information and Communication and the UNDP. The meeting saw participation from the government, private and corporate sector including financial institutions, EV/Hybrid car dealers and users. The consultation was organized with an objective to inform project development that is inclusive. The meeting saw high level of interest from all sectors and opportunities and challenges on technologies, policies, and incentives with were discussed on how best to support low emission transport system. The low emission transport system sets on motion towards achieving sustainable transport system that is in line with the government’s objective to remain carbon neutral and to promote green growth.
